Rajshahi Sees Concerning COVID-19 Spike: 51 Cases in 20 Days
Coronavirus infections are on the rise again in Rajshahi, creating fresh concern among local residents. According to information from Rajshahi Medical College (RaMC) Hospital, 51 COVID-19 cases have been identified over the past 20 days. This increase is being attributed to the impact of new variants and a more relaxed approach to health guidelines.
RaMC Hospital data indicates that from the start of June up to June 15, a total of 51 patients tested positive for COVID-19. Most of these patients initially presented with mild symptoms such as fever, cold, cough, and body aches, which were initially thought to be common flu. However, their tests later confirmed coronavirus infection.
Several healthcare workers and doctors are among those who have been infected, prompting heightened caution from hospital authorities. While most affected patients aren't in serious condition and are receiving treatment through home isolation, doctors are warning that the situation could be particularly risky for the elderly and those with pre-existing complex health conditions.
COVID-19 testing is actively being conducted at the Microbiology Department of Rajshahi Medical College. Authorities are strongly urging the public to adhere strictly to health guidelines, including wearing masks and regularly washing hands. They especially advise avoiding crowded places and getting tested promptly if feeling unwell.
This recent surge in infections in Rajshahi comes at a time when the overall COVID-19 situation across the country was largely believed to be under control. However, recent information from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) suggests that infections are increasing in some areas nationwide, underscoring the renewed need for vigilance.
